The Spontaneous Theatre Project
Bernard Toale Gallery | Boston, MA | August 23 - September 1, 2007
with Lesley Benedict, Spike McCue, Tyler Reilly, Alana Steinhardt
We staged this production in an art gallery in the South End of Boston, MA to accentuate the play's themes about the characteristics of art. In each scene, an item representative of that scene was placed on a display podium. In the final scene, the audience becomes Evenlyn's audiece as she presents her thesis, and the items in the room become her art work. In these final moments, the production itself becomes an art installation, observed by the gallery attendees, just like any other piece of art hanging on the wall blurring the lines between fine art and performance, and of theatrical representation and reality.
